What a TON wallet controls

TON Docs describes a wallet as a smart contract that checks signed requests. The app is the interface for those keys and accounts. Native GRAM balances are recorded in account state; tokens and NFT ownership use their own contracts.

One app may display several accounts, assets, or networks. Seeing an asset in an app does not tell you who holds its signing keys, and an account can receive assets before every app knows how to display them.

Custody and recovery

A custodial service controls keys for its users and has its own access and withdrawal procedures. A self-custody wallet lets the user authorize actions with their keys. Being inside Telegram does not establish which model a particular wallet uses.

Recovery is product-specific. Some wallets use recovery phrases, some support encrypted backups, and some support key rotation. Follow the instructions for the actual wallet and contract version. Do not assume that importing old words into any TON app will recover the current account.

A supported swap creates a separate request for the wallet to review and sign. Check the app origin and the actual wallet prompt. A connection label does not verify a token or guarantee that an operation will succeed.

When a received balance is missing

Keep the transaction link and check the receiving account and asset in an explorer. A successful sender transaction can be only one step in a longer trace. Inspect the recipient result, any refund or bounce, and the token's master address before concluding that funds arrived or were lost.

Indexing and asset-display coverage can lag. Repeating a transfer because one screen is empty can create a second transfer. A missing dashboard row is a reason to investigate the source, not evidence of a zero balance.
